probably the Suzuki Jimny, if it's anything like my grandpas Sierra ute it'll climb just about anything even with it's baby little 1.3.

GMC Jimmy! My mother had one of the Envoy Jimmys just like that when I was a kid.

Um the lesser of two evils... Given what the GMCs are like, I'm gonna have to say Suzuki. The 4.3l was the only good thing in them and early Vortec motors had issues too.

Can I go for neither again? Given the choice I'd probably get the Suzuki. Easier to get parts for (here), probably more capable off road and won't break the bank at the gas station.

Also, weight is important here (road tax).
I'd go for the Suzuki too.

Tell me about it, I'm already paying about €94 or so a month. The Suzuki would be way cheaper, the GMC more expensive.

I'll take the GMC. Tons of room for people and all that crap you gotta haul around, not to mention that V6 you could get in there. I'll also take the 5-speed, along with four doors, thank you very much.

The lede pic is a GMC Envoy, not a Jimmy by name. So, if we're playing fast and loose with model names, we can choose the GMC Typhoon and Suzuki Samurai, right?
If we have to choose Jimmy or Jimny, then the Jimmy wins:

Well, the problem is that the Suzuki isn't exactly quick.
The 1.5 diesel has a rated top speed of 135kph ! And I don't think the petrol ones were much better.
So I agree with you, sometimes nothing is better than something bad.

Well, if I were to buy one of those Suzukis I wouldn't buy one for highway use. But living in a asphalt jungle going off road isn't exactly a logical option either. Had I lived in the Alps, where the picture is probably taken, this would've been different.
So that's why I'm interested in neither.

The pic description said it was a GMC Jimmy Envoy, so I though it was one.
If I had to choose between those, I'd choose the Typhoon too,

Just for the sake of conversation, I may or may not be wrong. Apparently, according to Wikipedia, the first gen Envoy was called a "Jimmy Envoy", and later models are simply "Envoy", since the Jimmy name was dropped entirely.
There's no question that the first-gen '98-'00 Envoy was based on the Jimmy, but the Jimmy name doesn't appear anywhere on the Envoy or in its brochure .
The '98 Jimmy brochure doesn't mention the Envoy, either.
